Well, a lot of people compare World of Warcraft to Guild Wars so I want to start a thread so people can share their opinions on it, I know that GW fans have strong opinions on WoW and vice versa.
Personally, having played both games, I like both. I don't have my own subscription to WoW but I've played the 10 day free trial and my friend gave me an old account he had and I played it some before I went to college. In my opinion, Guild Wars is, in fact, better but only a little.
When I play WoW, I log off feeling one of two things: that I haven't accomplished enough or that I just wasted a bunch of time doing nothing. When I play Guild Wars, the quests seem to have a larger meaning to them rather than "kill 10 wolves". GW also has better graphics. Not because the graphics engine is much more detailed, but because GW definitely looks more realistic. As far as subscription fees, I don't agree with them but I do understand why MMOs like WoW have them. I do think they could at least be lower; especially for a game with the huge base WoW has. So the fact that GW doesn't have a fee helps it, but to me t's really not as big of a factor as it is for many players.
Overall, while I like GW slightly better I don't think the games should be compared as much as they are. A fairer comparison would be GW vs. Diablo II or vs. Oblivion (even though it's not really an online RPG) and maybe a comparison between GW and the upcoming online RPG Fury. On the flipside, it would be fairer to compare WoW to Lineage II, Dark Age of Camelot, or EverQuest just to name a few.
